The pairing was initially revealed on the Mo Hasani 360 podcast and was later confirmed by MMAFighting.com. The UFC event takes place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and is expected to be headlined by a middleweight clash between Robert Whittaker and Darren Till.
A former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion, Wood had an eight-fight winning streak snapped in his fourth Octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 167, where he suffered a third-round TKO defeat against John Dodson. “The Prospect” began his UFC tenure with submission triumphs against Johnny Eduardo, Andre Ewell and Jose Alberto Quinonez.
Nurmagomedov is the cousin of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The former Professional Fighters League and Fight Nights Global competitor is coming off a first-round submission of Braian Gonzalez this past November in which he claimed the Gorilla Fighting bantamweight title. The Eagles MMA representative is 12-0 thus far in his professional MMA career.
