Rafael dos Anjos: Jon Jones Was Defending his Title While Islam Was Still in Diapers
After returning to lightweight and losing to Mateusz Gamrot in UFC 299, former champion Rafael dos Anjos decided to go back to the welterweight division. With five fights left on his UFC contract, the Brazilian is waiting anxiously for a call.
"I'm having a one month vacation with my family in Brazil, but I'm in shape training in Nova Uniao, depending on the opponent, in case they offer me some short notice fights for June or July, I'll be ready," dos Anjos revealed in this Sherdog exclusive interview.
Dos Anjos also analyzed the main event of UFC 302 between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier and agreed with Dana White's statement about the UFC pound for pound rankings. "Islam ahead of Jones in P4P ranking makes no sense. Jones never lost a fight and faced the best of two different generations. When Makhachev was using diapers, Jones was already defending titles. That's the best example why I don't care about those rankings."
