Phil Davis Praises ‘Freight Train’ Corey Anderson Ahead of Bout Against Julius Anglickas at Bellator 276
On Friday, former Bellator MMA light heavyweight titleholder Phil Davis will walk out under the promotional banner for the 14th time. The four-time NCAA All-American wrestler will face Julius Anglickas in the co-headliner of the upcoming Bellator 276 card. In his latest appearance, “Mr. Wonderful” outpointed former Ultimate Fighting Championship 185-pound title contender Yoel Romero at the end of a hard-fought battle at Bellator 266. That victory allowed Davis to bounce back from a decision defeat at the hands of current divisional kingpin Vadim Nemkov, who is set to defend his belt against Corey Anderson in April.
“I like Nemkov, but Anderson has just been running through people like a freight train, so I just don’t know what to think,” Davis said. “If I had to pick somebody, I’d pick Nemkov, but Anderson is just… I mean, he has like three minutes of fight time in the last five fights. This guy is just doing great.”
Davis hasn’t fought outside the United States since 2018, when he scored a KO at the expense of Linton Vassell at Bellator 200. According to the American fighter, he would love to take the occasion of the upcoming Bellator European tour to visit Paris, the capital of France.
“I would love to fight in Paris, that has been on my list for a very long time. If they would have me, if Paris would have me, I would have no problem fighting there. Or Italy, or anywhere else. I’m excited. Or London. London was great.”
