Jan Blachowicz Still Hopes to Face Jiri Prochazka in Europe
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship 205-pound titleholder Jan Blachowicz would like to test himself with fellow former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka.
Last year ended on a bitter-sweet note for Blachowicz (29-9-1, 12-6-1 UFC), who fell short of capturing the vacant 205-pound title after fighting to a split draw with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282. The Blachowicz-Ankalaev matchup came to fruition after Prochazka — who was scheduled to face Glover Teixeira — was forced to vacate the belt after suffering a shoulder injury. Blachowicz was often vocal about taking on Prochazka in an all-timer European clash among former champions. For now, the Polish fighter has to wait for “Denisa” to recover from the injury, before having the chance to lock horns in the Octagon.
“I believe that somewhere in the future I'm gonna meet him in the Octagon. I wish him a very fas recovery and good recovery. I hope that someday we're gonna do this fight somewhere in Europe.”
