Aug 14, 2013 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Saturday, August 24 at Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic
City History will be in the making in the Grand Ballroom at Trump
Taj Mahal Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, on Saturday, August 24,
when New Jersey's premier MMA promoters, The Darwish Brothers, will
present EFC WARRIOR a night of full-contact cage fighting topped
by, for the first time in EFC history, a female main event.
In a rematch to their sensational war last February, Jen Lopez (4-1) from AMA Fight Club in Whippany, New Jersey, will once again lock up with arch-rival Roya Darvishian (5-2) of Lloyd Irvin MMA in Camp Springs, Maryland. Their three-round female war will be the featured bout at EFC WARRIOR and will also be for the EFC Women's Bantamweight Championship.
Tickets for EFC WARRIOR are priced at: $125, $100, $67 and $46 and
are on sale now by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or online
at www.ticketmaster.com, at the EFC website: www.efcmma.com, or at
the Trump Taj Mahal box office on fight night.
Darvishian and Lopez met on February 16 at Xtreme Caged Combat: Mayhem and, after three of the most brutal rounds in female MMA this year, Darvishian was able to secure a razor-thin split decision victory. This time, with a title on the line, they will fight three more rounds and Lopez is on a mission for revenge.
"I'm extremely proud to be hosting a female main event at one of our shows," said event co-promoter Hani Darwish. "These ladies truly deserve to be honored this way after the show they put on in their first match-up. Both of them are extremely talented athletes and they're both very eager to get in the cage again."
EFC WARRIOR will host two more title fights, as Gabriel Ruiz (3-2) of the EFC Fight Club in Woodland Park, NJ and Jovany Alvarez (4-2) from Modern Martial Arts in Englishtown, NJ, will fight for the EFC Featherweight Championship; and the always exciting Barat Jan (3-0) of Eagle Martial Arts in Boonton, NJ, will take on Victor Romero (3-3) of Modern Martial Arts in Englishtown, NJ, for the EFC Middleweight Championship.
