FROM THE CAGE, TO THE MAT, AND BACK TO THE CAGE… CALEB MILLER READY TO DEFEND HIS WELTERWEIGHT TITLE
May 5, 2015 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Welterweight champion, Caleb
Miller, just may be the hardest working amateur fighter in the
state! In fact, he bases his whole life around becoming a better
fighter.
Miller (4-1, Guardian MMA) started training in the sport at the age of fourteen. He would watch tapes of Chuck Liddell and Georges St. Pierre and practice what he saw in his shed.
After high school, he took some time off from fighting, and with no
high school wrestling experience, walked onto the wrestling team at
Cumberland University. He knew that in order to be a great MMA
fighter, learning wrestling was a must.
“I made a deal with the coach. If he didn’t want me to waste his time because I didn’t have what it takes, then I would leave,” states Miller.
All of that hard work paid off, and back in February, Miller found himself fighting for the V3Fights’ vacant welterweight title. In just thirty-three seconds into the first round, he was able to secure the victory and the title via head and arm triangle.
On May 30, Miller will face his toughest opponent to date when he takes on undefeated fighter, Casey Peel. When asked about his upcoming opponent and first title defense, here is what he had to say:
“My thoughts on my opponent are the same as the rest. I'm looking through him. I respect him but I don't fear anything he has to offer. His record is nice, but those wins are not against me. I have the advantage in mental combative superiority, physical tools, size, speed, strength, and instinct. My strength as a fighter comes from my belief in my savior and Heavenly Father, without them I am weak, wretched, unfocused, and lost. I love this sport and every person who watches, I just want to show them true class and real heart in the cage and hope that my message I give can be heard.”
Since wrestling in college, Caleb Miller has been running through his opponents. Can he do the same to Casey Peel on May 30? Get your tickets now and see!

Miller wrestled all four years on the college team, and the last
two years he made the varsity. Halfway into his freshman season, he
earned a scholarship and won the “Most Improved” wrestler.
