Report: UFC 196 Drug Tests Come Back Clean
There was a bit of shock and horror when UFC 196 headliner Nate Diaz accused featherweight champion Conor McGregor -- and every other UFC fighter -- of being on steroids in the lead-up to the March 5 card.
As it turns out, any fretting over the possibility of either main event combatant failing a pre- or post-fight urinalysis was unfounded.
MMAJunkie.com on Monday reported that every fighter who competed at UFC 196 passed their drug tests. The Nevada Athletic Commission reportedly tested 18 fighters on the card, and USADA conducted urinalyses with the other six fighters.
UFC 196 saw two major shifts in the landscape of the promotion as Diaz survived an early volley of strikes and was cut by McGregor, only to rally and submit the Irishman with a rear-naked choke in the second. In the co-feature, Miesha Tate pulled off an upset by doing the same to women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm.
