Coach Owen Roddy Believes Conor McGregor Would Finish Max Holloway in a Rematch
Conor McGregor’s long time striking coach, Owen Roddy, is confident that if his charge and current Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight champion Max Holloway crossed paths again, the Irishman would this time finish the Hawaiian.

McGregor (21-3) went on to become the first fighter to hold belts simultaneously in two different weight divisions: featherweight and lightweight. McGregor even managed to talk hall of fame and undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. out of retirement for a boxing bout.
Holloway (19-3) hasn’t lost since that bout with McGregor and has won 12 straight fights, capturing and defending the featherweight belt in the process.
Roddy, an ex-fighter himself, recently appeared on Submission Radio to give his thoughts on how a potential rematch would end (via MMAFighting.com):
“I think Conor would probably put Max away. I think Max would probably be way more confident in his ability, and if you go in there a little bit overconfident with Conor you’re gonna go to sleep. Whereas, he was a little bit more… he stood back in the first fight -- and obviously Conor injured himself, he couldn’t put him away -- but yeah, I think it would be a great fight.”
Roddy acknowledged that Holloway has come on in leaps and bounds since they last fought, but believes the Irishman is a step above the Hawaiian.
“Max has done, he’s done so well since the Conor fight. He’s been on a tear, and even John Kavanagh said it back in the day, he called that Max would have been the next champion after that fight with Conor. You could see it in Max, and I think everyone sees it. He’s a great fighter, but I think Conor’s on another level compared to him as well.”
