Vera, 29, climbs into the Octagon with the wind of a three-fight winning streak in his sails. The Team Oyama product last appeared at UFC on ESPN 35, where he laid claim to a five-round unanimous decision over Rob Font in their April 30 showcase. Vera owns a 13-6 record in the UFC, his resume anchored finishes of Frankie Edgar, Sean O’Malley, Andre Ewell, Nohelin Hernandez, Frankie Saenz, Guido Cannetti, Lijiburen Wu, Brian Kelleher, Brad Pickett and Roman Salazar.

The 37-year-old Cruz enters the cage on the heels of back-to-back victories. The Alliance MMA mainstay last competed on Dec. 11, when he took a unanimous verdict from Pedro Munhoz in their three-round UFC 269 bantamweight feature. Cruz, a former UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting champion, has gone the distance 17 times in his stellar career and carries a remarkable 16-1 record in those bouts.

UFC on ESPN 41 “Vera vs. Cruz” also features a women’s strawweight clash matching Yazmin Jauregui (-180) with Iasmin Lucindo (+150), a light heavyweight encounter pitting Azamat Murzakanov (-145) against Devin Clark (+115), a women’s bantamweight affair pairing Ariane Lipski (-190) with Priscila Cachoeira (+155) and a middleweight scrap slotting Bruno Silva (-280) opposite Gerald Meerschaert (+210). Women’s strawweights highlight the seven-fight undercard, as Lupita Godinez (-350) squares off with onetime Invicta Fighting Championships titleholder Angela Hill (+250).
