KSW scratched and clawed its way into the MMA sphere on Saturday with tough competition on other major promotional fronts. The Polish league countered a Fedor Emelianenko appearance with one from Mariusz Pudzianowski, with similar results across the two shows. KSW 64 featured one of the quickest knockouts in company history in devastating fashion, a title defended with a move never seen in KSW and a rare weight distinction among female fighters.

Jorge Masvidal Had Flashbacks: Keeping a firm grip on his bantamweight belt, Sebastian Przybysz tapped Bruno Augusto dos Santos with an inverted triangle choke. This maneuver had never before been performed within the organization.

Not a True Champ till You Defend: Przybysz is now the second bantamweight in KSW history to ever successfully defend his title. The first man to do, Antun Racic, is the one Przybysz claimed the belt from; Racic registered his lone title defense also against dos Santos.

Better Dank Than Never: The stoppage came at 4:20 of the third round in their five-round championship affair. Przybysz registered the latest finish in divisional history as a result.

Kid’s Got Skills: The 28-year-old from Gdansk earned his sixth win with KSW, putting him in sole possession of the most in KSW bantamweight history.

The UFC is Watching: Of those six wins for Przybysz, four have now come inside the distance. As a result, Przybysz extended his own lead for the most stoppages in the division’s history.

Polish Hulk Smash: In just 18 seconds, Pudzianowski scorched Serigne Ousmane Dia with a picturesque right hand. The Polish powerhouse notched the fourth-quickest knockout in KSW history, tied with Damian Janikowski’s 18-second drubbing of Yannick Bahati in 2018.

Smashing Up the Leaderboards: Pudzianowski notched his 16th win with the company, tying him for the third-most in KSW history with Jan Blachowicz. Mamed Khalidov and Michal Materla both have more (19 each), but all 16 victories for “Pudzian” have come with KSW.

Pudz Fills Arenas: Pudzianowski’s appearance was his 23rd under the KSW banner, placing him in sole possession of the third place for the most in company history. Khalidov (24) and Materla (25) are the only two with more KSW fights under their belt.

Two Careers in One: The former five-time World’s Strongest Man made his company debut back at KSW 12 in 2009. At that time, none of the other 17 fighters on this card had made their pro debuts.

Super Pudzian: The match with “Bombardier” came at super heavyweight range, as Pudzianowski weighed 260 pounds while his opponent countered with a sizeable 327-pound mark. Of the 11 super heavyweight matches in KSW, Pudzianowski has competed in 10, winning seven.

No Ruts in Sight: Laying waste to Filip Pejic with a head kick, Daniel Rutkowski extended his unbeaten streak to 14 straight. Rutkowski notched the ninth head kick stoppage in KSW history, and the second this year.

Musaev Only Fought Mironenko Once: For the first time in his career, Shamil Musaev did not earn a win at the end of a fight. Both he and Michal Pietrzak fought to a majority draw.

Stick to a Weight Class: Sylwia Juskiewicz and Karolina Owczarz officially competed in a 123-pound catchweight contest, for the second women’s catchweight fight in KSW history. The first involved Owczarz earlier this year, when she fought Monika Kucinic at 118 pounds.

Karolina Katchweight: As Owczarz fell short to Juskiewicz after their three-round affair, she now has suffered multiple losses on the roster. She is the fourth female KSW fighter to earn more than one defeat, joining Aleksandra Rola, Katarzyna Lubonska and Marta Chojnoska.

Tankity Tank: Early into the third frame, Cezary Kesik put Marcin Krakowiak away with strikes. In victory, “Polish Tank” sees his finish rate elevate to 92.3% as a result.

The Scale Bites Back: Both Jason Radcliffe and Adam Tomasik missed weight ahead of their bouts on KSW 64, and Radcliffe won while Tomasik did not. Fighters missing weight hold a record of 3-8 in their last 11 bouts dating back to 2019.

France on the Rise: Putting Tomasik away in 82 seconds, France’s Oumar Sy stayed perfect as a professional at 5-0. All five of his wins have come inside the distance.

Tomasick of Judges: Whether in victory or defeat, Tomasik has still yet to fight into a third round. The loss to Sy was the first in his career, one that started with five stoppages within two rounds.

Never Say Never Again: Coming into KSW 64, Dia had never faced a foe that had won a fight, Augusto dos Santos (12 fights) and Krakowiak (14 fights) had never been finished and Patryk Kaczmarczyk had never been defeated (seven fights).
