Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 9, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.
5: Consecutive welterweight triumphs for Burns, a streak that
includes a 2014 victory over Andreas
Stahl. That ties him with Geoff Neal
for the fourth-longest active winning streak in the division. Burns
overall winning streak is at six, a run that includes a pair of
triumphs at lightweight.
3: Fighters who have taken Tyron Woodley down in the former champion’s 13 UFC appearances. By landing two of eight attempts on Saturday, Burns joined Kamaru Usman and Rory MacDonald as the only athletes to plant Woodley on the canvas in the Octagon.
4: Takedowns surrendered by Woodley in his last two appearances, lopsided losses to Burns and Kamaru Usman. MacDonald was the only person to land a takedown on Woodley in 11 bouts before that.
83: Significant strikes landed by Burns. By comparison, Woodley landed 28. Burns also held a 156-to-65 edge in total strikes landed. Burns landed 41 significant strikes to the head, 27 to the body and 15 to the legs.
.600: Significant striking accuracy for Burns, who landed 83 of 138 attempts. Woodley was much less accurate, landing 28 of 64 significant strikes — a 43 percent clip.
162: Significant strike deficit for Woodley in his last two Octagon appearances, five-round decision defeats to Usman and Burns.
4: Consecutive triumphs for Augusto Sakai following a split-decision win over Blagoy Ivanov in the heavyweight co-main event. That ties him with top contender Francis Ngannou for the longest active winning streak in the division.
1: Leg lock submissions among women’s bouts in UFC history after Mackenzie Dern tapped out Hannah Cifers with a knee bar 2:36 into the opening round of their featured strawweight clash.
2: Leg lock submissions thus far in 2020 after Dern’s finsh. There was only one in the entirety of 2019: a Ciryl Gane heel hook of Don’Tale Mayes at UFC Fight Night 162 this past October. Thiago Moises authored the other such finish of 2020 with his tapout of Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 171 on May 13.
5: Flyweight victories in UFC competition for Katlyn Chookagian, tying her with recent foe Valentina Shevchenko for the most in the history of the division. “Blonde Fighter” earned a dominant unanimous verdict over the champion’s sister, Antonina Shevchenko, in Saturday’s featured preliminary bout.

3: Takedowns landed in eight attempts by Tim Elliott in fast-paced first round against Octagon newcomer Brandon Royval at flyweight. That approach took its toll, however, as Elliott faded in Round 2 and was submitted by a Royval arm-triangle choke at the 3:18 mark of the period. Overall, Elliott landed four of 10 takedowns in the fight.
.610: Significant striking accuracy for Casey Kenney, who landed 32 of 52 attempts en route to a submission of Louis Smolka at the 3:03 mark of Round 1 in a preliminary flyweight encounter. By comparison, Smolka landed 18 of 43 significant strikes, a 41 percent clip.
