The outcome was never really in doubt, but it was nonetheless sweet revenge for Valentina Shevchenko.

“Bullet” retained her flyweight crown with a clear-cut unanimous decision victory against Liz Carmouche in the UFC Fight Night 156 headliner at Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, on Saturday night. Shevchenko swept the scorecards in her second successful title defense, avenging a loss to Carmouche that occurred on the regional circuit nearly a decade earlier.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Uruguay, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

3,236: Days since the first meeting between Shevchenko and Carmouche, a second-round TKO win for “Girl-Rilla” at C3 Fights “Red River Rivalry” in Concho, Okla. on Sept. 30, 2010.

42: Significant strikes landed by Shevchenko. By comparison Carmouche landed 18 in what was a measured affair. Carmouche’s figure is the ninth lowest total for a fighter in a 25-minute bout. The lowest: Dan Hardy landed four significant strikes in a loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 111.

132: Total strikes for Carmouche, who landed much of her offense from her back. Shevchenko landed 84 total strikes.

0: Takedowns landed in four attempts by Carmouche.

6: Consecutive victories for Vicente Luque, currently the sixth-longest active winning streak in the UFC’s welterweight division. Luque went the distance for the first time in the Octagon in taking a split decision against Mike Perry in the co-main event.

171: Combined significant strikes landed by Luque (84) and Perry (87). Perry held a 32-to-28 advantage in Round 1, while Luque outlanded his foe 15 to 14 in Round 3. Perry also held a 116-to-85 edge in total strikes landed.

56: Significant head strikes for Perry; Luque landed 43.

35: Significant leg strikes for Luque. Perry, by comparison, landed 20.

64: Significant strikes landed by Volkan Oezdemir in a second-round knockout triumph against Ilir Latifi at light heavyweight. Forty-four of those significant strikes were landed to the heady by “No Time,” who ended a three-fight losing streak. Latifi landed just 18 significant strikes.

1: Takedown landed in five attempts for Latifi. “The Sledgehammer” landed his lone takedown in the opening stanza, but Oezdemir was able to return to his feet in relatively short order.

5: Submission wins among six professional MMA victories for Rodolfo Vieira, who tapped Oskar Piechota with an arm-triangle choke at the 4:26 mark of Round 2 in their middleweight tilt. “The Black Belt Hunter” has finished two fights via arm triangle and three by rear-naked choke.

35: Career takedowns landed by Enrique Barzola, the second most among active UFC featherweights behind only Darren Elkins (40). Barzola landed three of seven attempts in a split-decision win over Bobby Moffett on Saturday.

8: Consecutive decisions in UFC competition for Barzola, who has yet to finish an opponent or be finished during his promotional tenure. “El Fuerte” is 6-2 during that stretch.

1,841: Days since Gilbert Burns’ last welterweight appearance, a decision win over Andreas Stahl at UFC on Fox 12 on July 26, 2014. Burns then went 7-3 at lightweight in the Octagon before moving up to 170 pounds at UFC Uruguay to earn a three-round verdict over the previously unbeaten Alexey Kunchenko.

52: Total strikes by which Kunchenko outlanded Burns (115 to 63). Burns has earned three victories in UFC competition when he was outstruck by his opponent.

6: Heavyweights in UFC history to win a bout via arm-triangle choke. With his first-round submission of Raphael Pessoa, Ciryl Gane joined a group that includes Kimo Leopoldo, Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture, Travis Browne and Stefan Struve.

.680: Significant striking accuracy for Gane, who landed 15 of 22 attempts. Pessoa struggled to find the range in the abbreviated heavyweight contest, landing just 17 percent of his significant strikes (7 of 41) before tapping out at the 4:12 mark.

84: Significant strikes landed by Marina Rodriguez in a unanimous decision triumph against Tecia Torres. By comparison, Torres landed 41. Rodriguez outlanded her foe 25 to 14 in Round 1, 29 to 15 in Round 2 and 30 to 12 in Round 3.

39: Significant clinch strikes for Rodriguez. Torres, meanwhile, landed 12.

4: Consecutive defeats for Torres, tying her with Kailin Curran for the longest losing streak in UFC strawweight history. In addition to Rodriguez, Torres has fallen to Weili Zhang, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade during her current skid.

11:39: Total control time for Alex Da Silva in a unanimous decision win over Kazula Vargas at lightweight. Da Silva landed three of four takedown attempts and held an 88-to-59 edge in total strikes en route to sweeping all three judges’ scorecards.

1:09: Time of Veronica Macedo’s armbar of Polyana Viana in the evening’s opening bout, making it the fastest submission in the history of the women’s flyweight division. Advertisement
