By The Numbers: Marina Rodriguez vs. Amanda Lemos
The race to become the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next No. 1 contender at 115 pounds features Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos in prominent positions—at least for the time being.
Born less than a month apart from one another in their native Brazil, the Top 10 women’s strawweights will shoulder the UFC Fight Night 214 marquee on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Rodriguez enters the cage on the strength of a four-fight winning streak that now spans more than two years. She last appeared at UFC 272, where she eked out a split decision over Xiaonan Yan in their contentious three-round encounter on March 5. Lemos, meanwhile, has rattled off six victories in seven outings. The former Jungle Fight champion last competed on July 16, when she dispatched Michelle Waterson-Gomez with a guillotine choke in the second round of their UFC on ABC 3 co-main event.
