Top Rank Boxing Weigh-in Results: Manny Pacquiao, Jessie Vargas Make Weight
One of the greatest fighters of this generation will make what
could be his final appearance inside a boxing ring on Saturday.
Manny
Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title (online betting) at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las
Vegas against local boxer Jessie Vargas and at Friday’s weigh-ins,
both pugilists made weight.
Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38 KOs) has been waffling back and forth about whether he’ll hang up his gloves for good and did so at the post-fight press conference earlier this year when he out-pointed rival Timothy Bradley in Sin City. He’s a lock for the Hall of Fame when he’s eligible and most expect the Filipino legend to roll right through Vargas. At the scales, “Pac-Man” came in officially at 144.8 pounds and looked as lean and mean as ever before.
Vargas (27-1, 10 KOs) is a logical underdog coming in as he has
never faced anybody like Pacquiao in the past. The Vegas resident
lost in controversial fashion to Bradley when they fought last year
and he’s determined to prove those who have picked against him
wrong. At the scale, he looked better than ever and came in at
146.5 pounds.
Nonito Donaire (37-3, 24 KOs) will lock horns with another local kid in the co-feature as “The Filipino Flash” will put his WBO junior featherweight strap on the line against Jessie Magdaleno. Donaire clocked in at 121.8 pounds while Magdaleno (23-0, 17 KOs) scaled in at 121.3.
The action will go down live on Top Rank Pay-Per-View beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Nonito Donaire (121.8) vs Jessie Magdaleno (121.3)
Oscar Valdez (125.3) vs Hiroshige Osawa (125.3)
Zou Shiming (111) vs Prasitsak Phaprom (111.3)
