62-Year-Old Mickey Rourke to Compete in Boxing Match in Moscow
Mickey Rourke is scheduled to fight Elliot Seymour in a boxing
match on Nov. 28.
The bout was announced by Russian promoter World of Boxing on Wednesday and was first reported by Sovetsky Sport. The fight will take place on the undercard of Ruslan Provodnikov versus Jose Luis Castillo in Moscow.
Rourke, a 62-year-old actor who fought professionally eight times
between 1991 and 1994, trained under the tutelage of Freddie Roach
and accrued a record of 6-0-2 with four wins coming via technical
knockout. Prior to going pro, Rourke fought 30 times as an
amateur.
“Boxing is a serious part of my life,” Rourke stated in a press release. “It taught me respect and determination, patience and concentration. I always dreamed of fighting a match in Russia.”
His opponent, who also hails from the U.S., holds a career mark of 1-9. Seymour has lost all but one of his fights via decision and has not been victorious since 2009.
