Brandon Moreno was surprised by recent comments made by UFC 256 foe Deiveson Figueiredo. The Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight king made it known after his win over Alex Perez last month, that things were “personal” between him and Moreno, and that he would “destroy” the division’s top contender when the two stepped into the Octagon. However, Moreno isn’t taking the rhetoric to heart, since he believes it’s the machinations of a man just trying to garner interest in their pay-per-view headlining bout.
“He’s definitely underestimating [me]. I don’t know why he said that. I think he’s trying to sell the fight,” Moreno told Sherdog. “It’s weird, because I tried to remember all my conversations [about] him in the last few months. Before the fight against Cody Garbrandt I just said, man I don’t like his attitude. I don’t like that guy because he [was] very disrespectful with Joseph Benavidez, because he didn’t make weight [in their first fight]. If he’s angry for that, he’s very emotional. But to be honest, I think he’s trying to sell the fight. I know everybody can watch [his interview]. He says two or three words in Portuguese, and his manager says like 15 or 16 more words.”
