Arthur Estrazulas: A Golden Test of Faith

Arthur Estrazulas is ready for war at LFA 97.

The 11-year mixed martial arts veteran is well aware of the monumental opportunity in his main event lightweight championship fight. He also knows that it’s equally important to opponent Nick Browne. That similar drive for greatness, along with an encounter before their originally scheduled fight date, makes the 31-year-old believe their bout will be a test of faith on Jan. 16.

“The fight was canceled [at LFA 95], but we had the opportunity to see each other. And I liked the first impression, because I know he’s training hard. I know he has faith in his work. That’s what I want,” Estrazulas told Sherdog. “It’s a test of faith for both sides. I just feel ready to [deal with] whatever happens in the fight. Fights start standing [and] we’re going to strike. I think we’re both going to give everything. Leave everything in the cage. I think everyone should watch the fight. It’s going to be a war.”

In his conversation with Sherdog, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt spoke on his well-traveled journey in the sport, and not being offered contracts after competing for Bellator MMA, the Professional Fighters League and Absolute Championship Berkut. He also talked the value of Legacy Fighting Alliance gold in terms of pursuing an Ultimate Fighting Championship contract. His girlfriend—and UFC flyweight—Sabina Mazo joined the conversation to talk the benefits of sharing careers with a significant other. Plus, the Kings MMA fighter broke down his upcoming title fight in Park City, Kansas.
