Beatdown: Pettis, 'King Mo'
TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood returned to The Sherdog Radio Network Monday for another edition of “Beatdown.” Joining them were mixed martial artists, former champions, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and “King” Muhammed Lawal.
Fresh off his knockout of the night winner performance on the UFC on Fox 6 card Anthony Pettis joined TJ and Jeff to talk about his stoppage of Donald Cerrone. Pettis breaks down the kick that stopped the Greg Jackson product, his unorthodox style of striking, and how he has changed mentally since his loss to Clay Guida. “Showtime” also chats about who he feels will win between champion Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez, and if he truly believes he is going to fight the winner of that bout next.
It’s been a long road back to active competition for “King” Muhammed Lawal. Mo joined “Beatdown” to discuss his successful Bellator MMA debut. The former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion recounts his battle with staph infection, how it returned to his knee in October, and how it felt to return to the cage after a year away. Lawal also shares his thoughts on if the Bellator tournament is honestly the “toughest tournament” in sports.
TJ and Jeff also share their thoughts on the UFC on Fox card, take listener calls and emails, and discuss the latest on-goings in the world of mixed martial arts.
