WSOF 26: Nunez vs. Jordan Added To Prelims, Spang Out with Pneumonia
Dec 18, 2015 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- LAS VEGAS – World Series of Fighting announced
today the addition of a lightweight (155 pounds) bout between
rising stars Johnny Nunez and David
Jordan to the “WSOF 26: Palmer vs. Almeida” world championship
event at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on
Friday, Dec. 18, live on NBCSN, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
Additionally, Andreas Spang, who was slated to face Shamil Gamzatov in a light heavyweight (205 pounds) WSOF26 preliminary card matchup, has withdrawn from the commitment after contracting a case of pneumonia, forcing World Series of Fighting to scrap the bout.
The 30-year-old Nunez (5-1) of Las Vegas is looking to rebound from
a third round submission (guillotine choke) defeat at the hands of
Joe
Condon at WSOF17 on January 17. The loss snapped the Xtreme
Couture product’s perfect record.
Jordan (3-3), meanwhile, is looking to notch his third consecutive win after earning unanimous decisions over Brian Thomas and Jordan Chandler on August 16, 2014 and August 7, 2015, respectively. The 25-year-old Jordan is a protégé of retired, former MMA star Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman.
In the world championship featherweight (145 pounds) main event, reigning kingpin Lance Palmer (10-1) will put his title on the line against submission expert Alexandre Almeida (17-5).
In the co-main event, hard-hitting, rising star Ozzy Dugulubgov (7-2) will meet streaking submission ace Nic Herron-Webb (18-6) in a lightweight scrap.
KO artist Robbie Peralta (18-6) will make his World Series of Fighting debut against hard-hitting Muay Thai stylist Sheymon Moraes (7-1) in a featherweight affair.
Former World Series of Fighting championship challenger Josh “Gentleman” Hill (12-1) will collide with undefeated sensation Bekbulat Magomedov (16-0) at bantamweight (135 pounds).
Leading off the live NBCSN telecast, will be a light heavyweight tilt between Jake Heun (8-4) and Clinton Williams (7-2).
Doors at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will open for WSOF26 at 3:30 p.m. PT. The first preliminary card bout will begin at 4 p.m.
The four-fight preliminary card will stream live, in its entirety on an embeddable video player on WSOF.com.
