Tristar Gym is headed by Firas Zahabi and is best known as the training home of longtime welterweight king Georges St. Pierre. A number of other notable fighters either currently or have trained in Montreal including Rory MacDonald, John Makdessi, Alex Garcia, Francis Carmont, Yves Jabouin, Miguel Torres and David Loiseau, to name a few.
Calderwood last competed at UFC Fight Night in Glasgow this past July, when she captured a three-round verdict over Cortney Casey. Prior to that, “JoJo” suffered the first loss of her professional career, as she was submitted by Maryna Moroz via first-round armor at UFC Fight Night “Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop 2” in April.
Calderwood was expected to face Paige VanZant in the UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Dec. 10, but she had to withdraw from the contest due to a knee injury. The Scottish fighter should be ready to compete by April and is eyeing a potential showdown with “The Ultimate Fighter 20” castmate Rose Namajunas, according to the report.
