A potential light heavyweight slugfest between Mauricio Rua and Jimi Manuwa will serve as the feature bout for the UFC’s Nov. 8 trip to Brazil.
Sherdog.com confirmed the matchup with a promotion official following an initial report from the Brazilian outlet Combate. UFC Fight Night Shogun vs. Manuwa takes place at Tancredo Municipal Gymnasium in Uberlandia, Brazil, and also includes a flyweight contest between Ian McCall and John Lineker.
Rua enters the bout having lost three of his last four fights, including a third-round technical knockout defeat to Dan Henderson on March 23. The former light heavyweight champion is 6-7 in the Octagon overall, with notable wins over Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida and Forrest Griffin, among others.
Manuwa, meanwhile, suffered the first loss of his 15-bout pro career in March, falling to Alexander Gustafsson via second-round TKO at UFC Fight Night London. “Poster Boy” has 13 victories by knockout or technical knockout to his credit, including Octagon triumphs over Kyle Kingsbury, Cyrille Diabate and Ryan Jimmo.
