The injury bug has bitten UFC 184 once again, as Yancy Medeiros has withdrawn from his bout with Tony Ferguson due to a foot injury.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Tuesday announced that Gleison Tibau will take Medeiros’ place in the lightweight matchup. The pay-per-view event takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 28 and is headlined by Ronda Rousey defending her women’s bantamweight crown against Cat Zingano.
Ferguson, 30, has won four straight contests since dropping a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox 3. Most recently, “El Cucuy” finished Abel Trujillo via rear-naked choke submission at UFC 181.
Tibau, 31, has won three consecutive bouts via decision, most recently defeating Norman Parke at UFC Fight Night “McGregor vs. Siver.” Competing under the Las Vegas-based promotion’s banner since 2006, the Brazilian owns a career mark of 16-8 in the UFC.
