Former Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has been given medical clearance to resume full mixed martial arts training.
In a report from UFC.com on Friday, UFC President Dana White revealed that he and Lorenzo Fertitta traveled to Montreal earlier this week in order to meet with “Rush.”

The report seems to insinuate that a return to the UFC for St. Pierre is imminent, but details about a timetable, potential opponents, or whether or not it’s a formality seem up in the air.
“His knee just got cleared and he’ll start training again and getting back into shape, White said. “He’ll let us know when he’s ready.”
Just last month, White said in another UFC.com report that if “GSP” did come back to the Octagon, he would have a 170-pound title shot waiting for him.
St. Pierre last fought at UFC 167, earning a hard-fought -- and contentious -- split decision over Johny Hendricks in November 2013. Less than a month later, the Tristar Gym member announced during a conference call that he was vacating the welterweight belt and taking an indefinite leave of absence.
