9 Fighters Suspended Following UFC 125

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended nine UFC 125
competitors following the event, and six of them -- including
lightweight champion Frankie
Edgar (Pictured) -- could be out up to six months.
The New Year’s Day event, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, was marked by an inordinate amount of nasal fractures. Edgar, Brandon Vera, Marcus Davis and Phil Baroni all suffered the injury and have been suspended until July 1.
Each of the fighters may be cleared early by a physician, but Edgar
and Vera must sit out until at least Feb. 16, with no contact until
Feb. 1. Meanwhile, Baroni and Davis must wait until March 3 to
return, with no contact until Feb. 16. Vera’s fracture was
particularly gruesome, as the bridge of his nose was pushed across
his face from a looping punch thrown by Thiago
Silva in their light heavyweight bout. Regardless, Vera
received the same suspension as Edgar.
Also suspended for up to six months was Greg Soto, who suffered an injury to his left shoulder after Daniel Roberts submitted him with a kimura. Soto may be cleared early by a physician, however. Josh Grispi could also be out until July 1 with a jaw injury, though he may also be cleared early by a doctor.
