RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Jungle Fight returned Saturday with an excellent show titled "Warriors."

The event, promoted by Wallid Ismail (Pictures), filled the Nogueira brothers' training center for seven fights. Among those in attendance were such stars as Rickson Gracie (Pictures), Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Pictures) and Georges St. Pierre (Pictures).

Fans knew they were in for a treat when Roni Torres entered the cage to face Francinei Farinaze. Torres, a pupil of Andre Pederneiras, pushed the pace with striking early. His victory came in the second round, when he took down Farinaze and controlled the action on the ground before finishing with an armbar.

"I have to thank Wallid for this opportunity he gave me," Torres said. "Thank God I've performed well once more, getting the victory."

Paulo Thiago didn't get much work in his win over Paulo "Cavera." Thiago quickly took down his opponent. He then dominated positioning and secured an arm-triangle choke for the first-round win.

Thiago Goncalves (Pictures) "Jambo" showed that he is in good shape during his fight against Everton Santana. "Jambo" was superior from the start, when he took down his opponent in the early minutes. From then on, he kept scoring takedowns and controlled the fight with punches in the guard. After three rounds, he won the decision.

The surprise of the night was the defeat of Daniel Moraes (Pictures). The black belt was the favorite against Andre Tadeu and had the majority of the audience rooting for him. Moraes put his jiu-jitsu in action in the first round with takedowns and a tight ground game.

The second round looked like a replay of the first. When the fight went to the ground, though, Tadeu stood back up and landed a knee. He then punished Moraes with punches, knocking him out.

One of the most anticipated fights of the night had a quick ending. Strikers Johnny Eduardo and Erinaldo "Pitbull" put on a show with their punching prowess. The more experienced Eduardo eventually finished the contest with a strong right cross that knocked out his opponent.

Eric Silva dominated Carlos Eduardo dos Santos, showing his excellent ground game and striking. Silva grew tired after punching his opponent too much, and he almost lost the fight at the end of the second round. However, in the third round, Silva recovered and controlled the fight on the floor before finishing with a rear-naked choke.

Alan Frois went after Ricardo Pessanha early. He scored a takedown, but Pessanha escaped. Back on the feet, Foris knocked out his foe.

The only controversy of the night came in the first fight. Leonardo Tangerina and Bruno Menezes had a competitive fight until the third round, when Menezes took a small advantage over Tangerina. The judges, nevertheless, did not see it this way. They gave the victory to Tangerina, though the members of the Minotauro Team protested.

Wallid Ismail was content with the event and promised a show every month.

"One more victory is ours," he said. "We had great fights, proving again that this sport does not stop growing and still gives us a lot of joy."
