The year has started with high expectations for the upcoming UFC
interim heavyweight title fight between Antonio Rodrigo
Nogueira (Pictures) and Tim Sylvia (Pictures). The Feb. 2 bout will be held
during Brazil's Carnival, one of the country's biggest parties, but
MMA fans won't leave home until the fight is over.
Before "Minotauro" steps into the cage, though, several up-and-coming fighters will be competing at Shooto Brazil 5 on Jan. 26 in Rio de Janeiro.
Keep an eye on the outstanding Eduardo Dantas (Pictures), Will Ribeiro and Daniel Otero (Pictures). Those athletes promise to make a
lot of noise on the international stage.
"Our goal is to promote four Shooto Brazil editions in 2008," said promoter Andre Pederneiras. "This will depend on the sponsors, but I think everything will run well."
