Here is a by-the-numbers looks at UFC on ESPN 16, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.
6: Bantamweight victories for Holm, tying her with Ronda
Rousey, Germaine
de Randamie and Sara McMann
for third most in UFC history. Only Amanda
Nunes (11) and Raquel
Pennington (eight) have more victories at 135 pounds.
154: Significant strikes landed by Holm, a career best in 12 UFC bouts for “The Preacher’s Daughter.” By comparison, Aldana landed 69 significant strikes. Holm got stronger as the bout progressed, outlanding her opponent 21 to 12 in Round 1, 23 to 12 in Round 2, 23 to 9 in Round 3, 39 to 18 in Round 4 and 48 to 18 in Round 5.
5: Takedowns landed in 14 attempts by Holm, also a career best. The Jackson-Wink member managed to ground Aldana once in every frame and also passed guard seven times in the fight.
2: Takedowns landed by Aldana opponents in her previous eight UFC bouts. The Mexican fighter entered the bout against Holm with a 93 percent takedown defense rate.
61: Combined significant strike deficit for Yorgan De Castro in his last two UFC appearances, decision losses to Carlos Felipe (-30) and Greg Hardy (-31). That comes on the heels of his victorious UFC debut, in which he landed four significant strikes in a first-round KO of Justin Tafa.
4: Finishes at bantamweight for Germaine de Randamie, who submitted Julianna Pena with a guillotine choke in the third round of their featured clash. That ties her with Marion Reneau for the third most finishes in the history of division. Only Amanda Nunes (eight) and Ronda Rousey (six) have more finishes at 135 pounds.
1: Submission triumph in 14 professional appearances for de Randamie, whose nine previous victories came via KO/TKO or decision.
11: Takedowns landed by de Randamie’s last two opponents, Pena and Amanda Nunes. Nunes landed eight takedowns in a five-round verdict over de Randamie in a bantamweight title bout at UFC 245. Pena went 3 for 6 on takedowns before succumbing to the guillotine in Round 3.
72: Significant strikes by which Dusko Todorovic outlanded Dequan Townsend in a second-round technical knockout victory at middleweight. The 26-year-old Serbian notably held a 29-to-0 advantage in significant ground strikes while improving to 10-0 as a professional.
1,953: Days since Carlos Condit’s last Octagon triumph, at doctor stoppage of Thiago Alves at UFC Fight Night 67 on May 30, 2015. “The Natural Born Killer” returned to the win column — and halted a five-bout skid — with a unanimous decision win over Court McGee on Saturday night.
88: Significant strikes landed by Condit. By comparison, McGee landed 84. Condit landed 50 of his 88 significant strikes to the head, while McGee landed 47 of his 84 to the legs.
12: Split draws in UFC history. Charles Jourdain and Josh Culibao became the 12th after their featherweight showdown ended in a split draw.
4: Submissions attempted by Nassourdine Imavov in a three-round verdict over Jordan Williams at middleweight. Imavov landed just one of eight takedown tries but outlanded his foe by a 68-to-30 count in significant strikes.
137: Significant strikes attempted by Konklak Suphisara, more than twice the output of her opponent, former Invicta FC atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey (61). “Loma Lookboonmee” was more accurate as well, landing 80 attempts for a 58 percent success rate. Frey landed 26 of 61 attempts, a 42 percent clip.
109: Significant strikes landed by Casey Kenney in a lopsided three-round verdict over Heili Alateng at bantamweight. By comparison, Alateng landed 46 significant strikes.
41: Significant body strikes landed by Kenney, the fifth most in UFC bantamweight history. Vaughan Lee holds the record with 47 body strikes landed against Nam Phan at “The Ultimate Fighter: China” finale in 2014.
133: Significant strike deficit for Alateng in three Octagon appearances. “The Mongolian Knight” was able to defeat Danaa Batgerel (-49) and Ryan Benoit (-21) in his first two UFC bouts before falling to Kenney.
