Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Norfolk, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.
5: Finishes in flyweight bouts for Figueiredo, who is tied with
John
Moraga for the third most in the history of the division. Only
Demetrious
Johnson (seven) and Benavidez (six) have more.
21: Significant strikes by which Benavidez outlanded Figueiredo prior to the stoppage. Benavidez outlanded his opponent 31 to 15 in Round 1 and 15 to 10 in Round 2.
7: Previous UFC bouts for which Figueiredo made weight. But after checking in at 127.5 pounds ahead of Saturday’s headliner, the Brazilian was ineligible to win the flyweight championship.
26: Bouts in UFC and WEC competition for Joseph Benavidez without a championship. Despite being regarded as one of the top lighter weight fighters in two different divisions, the Las Cruces, N.M., native has come up short in four title bouts — three in the UFC at flyweight and one in the WEC at bantamweight.
30: Significant ground strikes, among 40 landed overall, for Felicia Spencer in a first-round stoppage of Zarah Fairn dos Santos in the evening’s featherweight co-main event. Spencer ended the contest with punches and elbows from mount at the 3:37 mark of Round 1.
1,631: Days since Spencer’s last KO/TKO triumph, a first-round stoppage of Rachel Wiley in her professional debut at Invicta FC 14 on Sept. 12, 2015. Spencer’s next four finishes prior to Saturday came via submission.
4: Consecutive victories for Magomed Ankalaev following a highly-controversial first-round stoppage of Ion Cutelaba. That ties Ankaleav with Jon Jones for the longest-active winning streak in the light heavyweight division.
3: First-round finishes in four Octagon appearances since December 2018 for Megan Anderson, who added Norma Dumont Viana to her list of victims with a knockout win 3:31 into Round 1 of their featured featherweight encounter. Anderson has also stopped Zarah Fairn dos Santos and Cat Zingano inside of a round in recent UFC competition.
20: Combined significant strikes landed by Anderson in those wins over Viana, dos Santos and Zingano. The Aussie landed seven significant strikes and one knockdown against Viana on Saturday.
4: Combined submission attempts between Grant Dawson (two) and Darrick Minner (two) in their featured featherweight matchup. While Minner threatened with the guillotine choke early, it was Dawson who tapped his opponent with a rear-naked choke 1:38 into Round 2.
89: Significant strikes landed by Kyler Phillips in a unanimous decision triumph over Gabriel Silva in a preliminary bantamweight contest. By comparison, Phillips landed just 31. That included a frenetic opening stanza in which Phillips outlanded his opponent by a 51-to-24 count.
33: Total strikes by which Brendan Allen outlanded Tom Breese en route to a technical knockout stoppage 4:47 into the opening frame of their middleweight encounter. Breese, once regarded as one of the top prospects in the UFC, lost for the second time in his last three outings.
71: Total strike deficit for Jordan Griffin before his second-round guillotine choke submission of T.J. Brown in a preliminary featherweight bout. Brown outlanded his foe 91 to 20 in total strikes and 32 to 15 in significant strikes before succumbing to the fight-ending maneuver.
7: Takedowns landed in seven attempts for Brown.
125: Total strikes landed by Sean Brady in a unanimous decision triumph over Ismail Naurdiev. “The Austrian Wonderboy,” meanwhile, landed just 38. Brady also landed four of his nine takedown attempts in the welterweight contest.
12: Consecutive professional triumphs — including two in the UFC — by Brady to begin his career. The 27-year-old Renzo Gracie Philly representative has also competed for Cage Fury Fighting Championships and Legacy Fighting Alliance during his tenure.
