Brazilian Notebook: Fury FC Closing In
Gleidson Venga Nov 23, 2007
The Fury FC 83-kg (183-pound) tournament finals on Dec. 6 have been
attracting the attention of Brazilian fans. Although several are
waiting for a finals match between Brazilian Top Team and Chute
Boxe, involving Rousimar Palhares against Daniel Acacio (Pictures), Fabio Negao (Pictures) and Andre Mikito round out a tough
field that has no clear favorite.
As the only Fury FC Grand Prix finalist living in São Paulo, where the event will be held, Fabio Negao (Pictures) is expecting strong support from the audience to motivate him.
"My fans are always there for me," Negao said. "For sure it makes
the difference. The presence of people who are cheering for me can
be decisive for me winning this belt."
In a pool on the official Web site of the organization, Negao was picked to face Rousimar Palhares, and Daniel Acácio will take his chances against André Mikito.
"All the opponents are tough ones," he said. "Each one of them has their own personality in the ring. Palhares fights very close to the opponent, in the clinch. Acácio is strong in his striking, and Mikito is the most strategic. All of them are good, but I'm training hard and I'll face any one of them. I want to be the champion -- it's all I know."
Hoping to shine on the international scene, Negao believes the Fury FC title will open doors to bigger organizations all across the world.
"Fury is the biggest event we have in Brazil," he said. "It's a big show and the entrance to the international events. Especially now that it will be aired by ProElite, it shows that the Fury is a serious and professional event. I hope to be invited to other organizations after my performances."
