Caution was never part of the Chuck Liddell package.
In an interview with “Inside MMA,” Liddell criticized current champions Jon Jones and Georges St. Pierre for what he perceives to be cautious approaches inside and outside the cage. St. Pierre has gone the distance in six consecutive bouts, while Jones drew the ire of fans and Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White over his refusal to accept a short-notice bout with Chael Sonnen in September.
Liddell, 43, remains one of MMA’s most beloved and revered figures. “The Icemen” held the UFC light heavyweight championship from April 16, 2005 until May 26, 2007. He made his final appearance at UFC 115 three years ago, losing to Rich Franklin by first-round knockout at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Liddell was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 11, 2009.
