In the main event, Tito Ortiz battled Stephan Bonnar in a back-and-forth fight which Ortiz was able to win by split decision. With the win, Ortiz positioned himself to challenge Liam McGeary for his light heavyweight title at Bellator 142.
In other action, Will Brooks beat Michael Chandler to win the vacant lightweight title. It was an impressive showing for Brooks, who won the title with a fourth round TKO. Also on the card, Joe Schilling knocked out Melvin Manhoef and Muhammad Lawal TKO’d Joe Vedepo.
Bellator 131 was the most watched event in promotional history, averaging 1.2 million viewers in the U.S. and peaking with over 2 million viewers during the main event.
