Showtime Championship Boxing Weigh-in Results: Linares, Crolla Official for Rematch
Jorge Linares has been on an impressive run the last five years,
having won 10 consecutive bouts since losing to Sergio Thompson.
Since then, Linares won the vacant WBC lightweight title and
defended it twice before having his title taken away and being
declared a “champion in recess” by the sanctioning body.
Last September, Linares took on rugged Brit Anthony Crolla (31-5-3, 13 KOs) and the two waged a memorable battle, but Linares (41-3, 27 KOs) came out on top via unanimous decision. In the process, the Venezuelan scooped up Crolla’s WBA 135-pound strap and since their initial encounter was so thrilling, an immediate rematch was setup.
The two will meet on Saturday night at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, with the action being televised live on Showtime beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. At Friday’s weigh-ins, both combatants came in identically at 134.5 pounds, giving their second go-‘around the green light.
