Live radio returned to The Sherdog Radio Network Monday with a new
episode of "Beatdown" with TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood. Joining
them on their three-hour radio tour were UFC fighters Melvin
Guillard and T.J.
Waldburger.
"The Young Assassin"d was scheduled to face Jamie Varner at Saturday night's "The Ultimate Fighter" finale. However, the fight never came to be as the former WEC lightweight champion was forced to pull out of the bout due to illness. The Blackzillians team member chats about Varner’s withdrawal, and reasons other than sickness that he feels may have played a factor in the cancelation of the bout. Guillard also responds to concerns that Varner allegedly had towards him possibly using a lubricant in the fight.
Waldburger was victorious Saturday over Nick Catone by technical submission. The Texas-based welterweight joined TJ and Jeff to talk about the performance that earned him "Submission of the Night" honors. Waldburger also talks about how he was first exposed to mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu.
De Santis and Sherwood also shared their thoughts on cards from over the weekend, the announcement that Georges St. Pierre will defend his lightweight title against Nick Diaz and touch on the tragic situation in Connecticut. Listen to the show here.
