Sherdog.com Staff Nov 30, 2012
TJ De Santis and Todd Martin were back on The Sherdog Radio Network
Friday for another edition of "Beatdown." Joining them were UFC
fighters John Albert
and Darren
Elkins.
Albert is back in action on Dec. 8 as part of the UFC on Fox 5 card. “The Ultimate Fighter” alumnus is scheduled to face former UFC bantamweight title challenger Scott Jorgensen in Seattle. Albert talks about the upcoming matchup and if he feels Jorgensen is the same fighter that faced Dominick Cruz for the title. Albert also discusses his 0-2 record in 2012, if this fight is a battle for employment and how his loss to Ivan Menjivar is his favorite performance to date.
Elkins is 4-0 as a featherweight inside the UFC. The Indiana-based mixed martial artist joined De Santis and Martin to talk about his most recent victory over Steven Siler. Elkins also breaks down why he feels he is a better fighter at featherweight, why he has yet to finish an opponent at that weight and what he feels might be coming up next for him.
TJ and Todd also discuss what it takes to make a star in mixed martial arts, the UFC's non-unionized roster and what their memories of Strikeforce will be as the promotion heads into its final card. Listen to “Beatdown” here.
