Yesterday, it was announced that welterweight prospect Michael “Venom” Page had been forced to withdraw from Friday’s Bellator 134 after suffering a cut during training. Today, the 27-year-old Englishman took to social media to share a photo of the deep laceration near his left eye and the subsequent stitches.
“I wanted to fight but my coaches pulled me due to the location of the cut, not the cut itself, not wanting it to open during the fight,” Page wrote on Twitter.
The kickboxing convert holds a perfect 7-0 record in MMA competition, including six first-round finishes and three wins inside the Bellator cage. At Bellator 134, Page was scheduled to face Curtis Millender, who will now take on late replacement Brennan Ward.
