Few people in Brazil could have imagined an event as important for
their country as UFC 134. Junior dos
Santos proved otherwise. On Nov. 12, the Santa Catarina native
faced Cain
Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC on Fox 1
and gave him no chance. “Cigano” knocked out Velasquez in the first
round to become the new divisional king.
However, the show extended far beyond the Octagon, and the 25th issue of PVT Mag, released on Friday, dives into the historical event. The cover story, written by Gleidson Venga, who was in California the week before the show, also touches on Wanderlei Silva’s victory over Cung Le and the epic five-round battle between Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 139 on Nov. 19.
Hendo’s Debut
As Dan Henderson continues to make history, even at 41 years of age, “Alonso’s Relic” remembers his MMA debut. It came in 1997 in Brazil, where he defeated Crezio de Souza by first-round technical knockout. Henderson recorded another victory the same night and moved immediately to the UFC.
