Midwest Prospect Watch
Mike Fridley May 31, 2009
In lieu of Danny Acosta’s excellent “Prospect
Watch” feature on Phil Davis, I
figured Sunday afternoon would be a perfect time to discuss a few
prospects from the Midwest that are likely to make waves as we move
into the Joe Rogan-tabbed “Machida Era.”
Brian Foster: Hard-hitting welterweight fighting out of Marc Fiore's H.I.T. Squad in Granite City, Ill. Foster (14-3) destroyed the fast-rising Kyle Baker in less than a minute a few weeks ago in Columbus at Shine Fights “Genesis.” Has a tremendous upside and lots of experience for a 25-year-old.
Jesse
Lennox: A 10-1 finisher with decent submissions and
solid striking. Lennox makes his Octagon debut against Danillo
Villefort at UFC 101.
Chris Tuchscherer: Gutsy Yamma finalist (17-1, 1 NC) who faces a major test against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 102.
Jay Silva: Explosive Miletich-trained fighter (4-0) with a lot of tools. Check out his flying knee in Sunday’s “Photos of the Week.”
Joe Warren: Michigan native with a gift for all things MMA. Warren (2-0) is a man that has proven he can compete with the best of his division right this minute with wins over Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto and Chase Beebe.
