Karakhanyan to Fight Medvedovsky on Bellator 164 Card in Israel
California-based mixed martial arts promotion Bellator
MMA announced Tuesday afternoon that veteran Georgi
Karakhanyan will stand opposite Kirill
Medvedovsky in a main card matchup of
Bellator 164.
The event will mark the historic maiden voyage for Bellator into Israel as Bellator 164 will commence inside Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv on Nov. 10. Karakhanyan will replace James Gallagher, who has been removed from the Israel card in favor of the December Bellator 169 event, which takes place in Gallagher’s native Ireland.
Karakhanyan is coming off a brilliant performance at Bellator 160 where he flattened Bubba Jenkins in just 53 seconds. “Insane” hopes to continue his impressive performance by silencing the Israeli crowd, which will assuredly be heavily behind the local fighter Medvedovsky.
Bellator also revealed on Tuesday that a female flyweight encounter between Lena Ovchynnikova and Karla Benitez has been tacked onto the roster. The matchup completes the Bellator 164 main card, which will be televised on Spike on tape delay on Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Bellator 164 will be anchored by the welterweight world title rematch between current champ Andrey Koreshkov and former titlist Douglas Lima. Noad Lahat will also oppose Scott Cleve on the main card.
