Boxing: Alejandro Luna Takes on Alan Herrera on Garcia-Guerrero Undercard
Premier Boxing Champions announced early Thursday that
undefeated lightweight contender Alejandro Luna will square off
against grizzled veteran Alan Herrera on the undercard of the
Danny Garcia-Robert Guerrero event. The card will go down on Jan.
23 at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and will be
televised live on Fox starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Luna (19-0, 14 KOs) has been tearing it up as a pro so far, having already scored big wins over the likes of Daniel Attah, Sergio Rivera and most recently, a knockout over Sergio Lopez. His signature win to date was when he edged former world champion Cristobal Cruz over eight rounds last June.
Standing in Luna’s way is Herrera (34-7, 22 KOs), a tough Mexican
on a two-fight winning streak. “El Explosivo” had dropped three
consecutive battles before turning his fortunes around.
Also set for the PBC on Fox card is unbeaten welterweight contender Sammy Vasquez vs. Aron Martinez, who is fresh off an upset win over former world champ Devon Alexander in October. Heavyweights Dominic Breazeale and Amir Mansour will tango on the main card as well.
PBC also revealed that the undercard will feature Min Wook Kim (12-1, 10 KOs) in a junior welterweight battle and Luis Bello (6-3, 2 KOs) will compete in a lightweight six-rounder, both against foes to be named shortly. Sergio Quiroz, Antonio Santa Cruz and Jose Gomez will be in action as well, though their opponents have yet to be determined.
